On Sunday June 16th, the Calgary Jazz Orchestra's final concert of our 14th season pays tribute to the legendary Duke Ellington. Directed by Johnny Summers, we celebrate Father's Day with special guest tenor saxophonist Cory
Weeds.
This concert is a unique opportunity to hear the genius of Duke's music live, presented in the fresh, fun style of the Calgary Jazz Orchestra.
Duke Ellington was a fascinating big band leader and composer for over 50 years. Recipient of multiple Grammy awards, a Grammy
Lifetime Achievement Award and a posthumous Pulitzer Prize, the Duke composed music decades ahead of his time.
This will be a special evening, open to all ages, showcasing the talent of Cory Weeds and featuring the CJO’s great musicians including tenor saxophonist Shane Statz.
Don't miss your last chance this season to hear some of the best jazz ever composed. Perfect for Father's Day!
